World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all its leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is because of how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.
It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can look at the item level. It's a measure of the damage and quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor is possible using the level of the item.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable the stats of an item really are. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This can lead to an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzards actual item level.
This isn't the only factor that influences the level of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also change its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat modifications of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.
Another way to change the stats of an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes could do things like give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.
In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat in that range unless they are an item that is unique, or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another aspect that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves and is thus more valuable in the early game than later ones as most players prioritize more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increase with each item level. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn by using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.
Cases.gg to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..
The Luck of an item can also affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are displayed above items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
